Together with the HEMA gear manufacturer 8OPENINGS, we have designed new rashguards for the Sterzhaw, a HEMA event that we are organizing. The Sterzhaw is the largest HEMA event in Styria, with a strong focus on workshops in various weapon disciplines and longsword tournaments. These new rashguards are special as they embody the essence of this HEMA event.
For the design, we have incorporated typical Styrian ornaments from traditional costumes, giving the rashguards an authentic regional touch. Additionally, the design features illustrations from the „Czynner Fechtbuch,“ a manuscript on armored combat preserved in the University Library of Graz. Of course, the rashguards are green, as Styria is known as the green heart of Austria.
We chose the color green to not only reflect the region’s identity but also symbolize the connection to the culinary specialties Styria is famous for, namely Kernöl. These rashguards are not only functional but also proudly represent the Steiermark and the Sterzhaw. We hope they bring joy to the event participants and support them in their sporting activities.
